The Story Setup
GTA Vice City takes place in 1986. Tommy Vercetti, voiced by Ray Liotta, is released from prison after 15 years. His boss Sonny Forelli sends him to oversee a drug deal, but it is ambushed and Tommy loses both the drugs and Sonny's money. The game is Tommy's quest to find who set him up and build his own criminal empire.

Asset Missions
After acquiring the Vercetti Estate, Tommy can purchase business properties across Vice City. Each property has a series of missions that must be completed before it generates daily income. These asset missions are required for 100% completion and some are needed to unlock the final story missions.
Key assets include the Malibu Club, Print Works, Kaufman Cabs, Sunshine Autos, the Pole Position Club, the Ice Cream Factory, InterGlobal Films, and the Boatyard.
If you get stuck on any mission, our cheats reference has weapon and health codes that can help you power through difficult sections. Use ASPIRINE for instant health and NUTTERTOOLS for the most powerful weapon set.
Tips for Completing All Missions
Save frequently at nearby safehouses before starting difficult missions. The Demolition Man mission (RC helicopter bombing) and the final mission Keep Your Friends Close are widely considered the hardest. Stock up on weapons and armor before attempting them. Check our map guide for safehouse locations near mission start points.

Frequently Asked Questions
How many missions are in GTA Vice City?
GTA Vice City has approximately 38 main story missions, though the exact count depends on whether you include mandatory asset missions. Adding in all asset property missions, side missions, rampages, and hidden package collection, the total exceeds 80 individual tasks. Completing everything earns you 100% completion, which unlocks the Hunter helicopter at Fort Baxter Air Base and a bonus T-shirt for Tommy.
What is the hardest mission in GTA Vice City?
The most commonly cited hardest mission is Demolition Man, which requires you to fly a finicky RC helicopter through a construction site and plant bombs within a time limit. The RC controls are unintuitive and the time window is tight. The final mission, Keep Your Friends Close, is also challenging because you fight through waves of Forelli gangsters and must defeat both Lance Vance and Sonny Forelli back to back.
Do I have to complete asset missions to finish GTA Vice City?
Yes. You need to purchase the Print Works and complete its missions to trigger the final story missions. You also need to earn enough daily income from your assets to satisfy the money requirement that advances the plot. Purchasing and completing at least five or six business properties is typically enough to reach the finale.
